WarrantyCam Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
WarrantyCam (“the App”) is an Android application for workshop technicians to capture, organise, and share warranty evidence for a Job (keyed by WIP). This policy explains what data is handled on your device, what third-party services you may connect, and what the developer does not collect.

2. What the App stores on your device
Depending on how you use the App, the following may be stored locally on your phone or tablet:
- Job metadata — for example WIP, registration, model, Chassis Code, recalls/fault notes, and related settings you enter.
- Captures — photos, videos, and imported files you attach as warranty evidence, including filenames and CaptureCategory.
- App preferences — Cloud Sync and Storage Destination choices, watermark and quality options, brand profiles, optional Pro entitlements mirrored from Play Billing, and similar settings.
- Optional biometric lock preference — a local on/off setting only. Biometric templates stay in the device OS; the App does not upload fingerprints, face data, or lock credentials.
You can delete Jobs and Captures in the App. Uninstalling the App removes local App data on that device; files already in your own cloud remain under your cloud account’s controls.
3. Cloud Sync (your own cloud)
If you enable Cloud Sync with Google Drive, Captures and Job metadata are uploaded to folders in your Google account. The App uses Google Sign-In / Drive APIs so the App can create and update those folders on your behalf. That content is not sent to a WarrantyCam server.
- Local Only — evidence can remain on-device with no cloud sign-in.
- Storage Destination — Cloud Only, Local Only, or Both controls whether files remain on the device after upload (independent of files that already live on a diagnostic tablet).
- Settings backup — optional sync of selected preferences (for example custom models or recall presets) into your connected cloud so another device signed into the same account can reuse them.
- OneDrive — may appear as “Coming soon” and is not a production Cloud Sync path in the current Play Store v1 scope.
Your use of Google Drive (or any future cloud provider) is also governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.
4. Sharing and Warranty Hub Submission
When you use Warranty Hub Submission or other share actions, the App opens the Android system share sheet with your Evidence Package and a short WIP/registration summary. You choose the destination (for example Microsoft Teams or email). The developer does not intermediary that handoff.
Drive Link Share (when available) copies or sends the URL of the Job’s folder in your Google Drive. Colleagues who open that link access content according to your Drive sharing permissions — not through WarrantyCam servers.
5. Purchases (Pro)
Optional Pro features are sold as a monthly subscription through Google Play Billing. Payment details are processed by Google; the App receives entitlement status so it can unlock Pro features. The developer does not receive your full payment card details through the App.
6. Permissions the App may request
- Camera — to take photos and video Captures.
- Microphone — when recording video with audio.
- Photos / media / storage — to save or import Captures when local storage is used.
- Biometric / device credential — only if you enable optional local app lock.
- Network — for Cloud Sync, Play Billing entitlement checks, and opening links you choose.
Permissions are used for the features above, not to feed a developer analytics backend with Job content.
7. What we do not collect
- We do not run a WarrantyCam backend that receives or stores Job cards, Captures, VIN/registration evidence, or Evidence Packages.
- We do not sell Job or Capture content.
- Optional biometric lock is device-local security only; it is not cloud collection.
If this posture changes in a future version (for example a developer-operated sync service), this policy will be updated before that behaviour ships, and the in-app Privacy Policy link will point to the revised text.
8. Children
WarrantyCam is intended for adult workshop / technician use. It is not directed at children.
9. International use
Data you store on-device stays on that device. Data you sync to Google Drive (or share via the system share sheet) is processed under the locations and policies of those services and of the recipients you choose.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the App evolves. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
